Here is an overview of key projects Aging With Dignity has been
involved with since our founding as a national nonprofit in 1996.
Five Wishes
A living will that allows you to decide -- now -- how you want to be cared for in
case of a serious illness where you cannot speak for yourself. It is written in plain English and addresses the medical, personal,
emotional, and spiritual needs of a seriously ill person.
Hope Today
Hope Today, a project of Aging With
Dignity, looks to assist seniors and the disabled in need by offering the emotional,
material and spiritual support necessary for them to live with a
continued sense of dignity and self-worth. Hope Today
currently serves North Florida in Wakulla and Franklin counties.
Accomplishments
Aging with Dignity has
distributed more than eleven
million copies of the Five Wishes living will; established a network of more than
15,000 Five Wishes distributors nationally; made a difference
in the lives of patients and their families through advocacy;
spearheaded Awakening 2000; presented hundreds of advance care
planning workshops; recognized individuals and facilities that
promote human dignity and show compassion; and hosted statewide
forums on elder issues.
Awakening 2000
Challenged people of all faith to grow spiritually to prepare for the next millennium.
Regardless of our diverse faith traditions, there is a consensus that human dignity comes
from God and is worthy of our utmost respect, and this consensus must be celebrated.
